The eroticism in art: from modern to contemporary
curated by Luca Beatrice

De Magistris Art presents a group show with strong impact, hot-as the title says – that describes the evolution of sexuality in the art world, from antiquity to more recent times.
HOT, an exhibition that arises from the book, Sex – eroticism in art from Courbet to YouPorn, the lastest essay by Luca Beatrice, takes us on an excursion in the iconography of sex through more traditional designs, such as those of Jean Cocteau and the work of Peter Klasen 70s, up to contemporary photography, not to mention the painting, also involving young emerging artists.

HOT The exhibition also addresses the concept of obscenity, which was created with the modern, when the work of art enters into a relationship with the media. The exhibition explores the theme “hot” that from Courbet to Man Ray and Schiele up to the performance of Vanessa Beecroft, Madonna shows, to burlesque and the web, addressing the issue of the border, sometimes subtle, between art, eroticism and pornography.

De Magistris Art Gallery, which will host the exhibition from 24 May to 6 July 2013, therefore continues her young business with a major exhibition that involves painting, photography and drawings, exploring the theme of eroticism in an updated key and appealing. The gallery, run by Benedetta De Magistris, has been opened a few months with a staff of Donatella Izzo, but looks back on three decades of experience from the Galleria San Carlo.
